What’s Happening at St. Mary’s! (1st Week of December)

+A Message from the Senior Warden

Rose-Stained-Glass_600During the October Vestry meeting, it was decided that we would end our arrangement with the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach. We are proud to have provided them a place to hold their after-school and summer programs, rent free, over the last year and a half in our Guild Hall. It became clear that the expected renovation, upon which we based our initial arrangement, was going to be a much more involved project then could not be undertaken at this time. As we look to the future, we needed to explore the possibilities of using our campus as a source of income with rentals and usage that can provide much needed income. We hope that we can collaborate with community organizations in the future that will be both beneficial to them, and St. Mary’s.

+Wounded Warriors Family Support

wounded_warriorsSt. Mary’s Advent Outreach Program this year is supporting Wounded Warriors Family Support, or WWFS. They reach out to veterans and their families across the country, with four different programs, offering respite for caregivers, modified vehicles, family retreats and job training. Our program will run through December 31st.

For every $10 received a card will be placed on the Christmas Tree in the church. Please consider giving generously to this very worthwhile cause, either with a check or cash – check to be made out to St Mary’s with “Wounded Warriors” on the memo line – and place your offering in the envelopes provided in the pews, and then place it in the plate. Perhaps you would like to give $10 each of the five Sundays in Advent, in honor or memory of a friend or relative who has served their country. We will also be inviting our Christmas visitors to join us in this effort.

These wounded warriors have given so much for us, and now it is our turn to give back to them and their families. This is a great, practical way to help them. Thank you in advance for your faithful generosity, and let’s see if we can once again cover the tree with cards!
