The Shoe That Grows: 2017 Advent Outreach Project

By Barbara Van Gaasbeek

In many countries around the globe, contaminated water on river banks and contaminated soil provide breeding grounds for parasites which can easily enter the body through bare feet. Approximately 300 million children in the world suffer from the effects of parasites. Parents who live in impoverished countries cannot afford to buy new shoes annually for their children. Because International provides a simple solution – footwear that grows as a child’s feet grow.

So here is our chance to really give some hope for a better life by donating. Our goal is to give 100 pairs of shoes, which cost $15 per pair. For every $15 donated, we will put a card on the Christmas tree in the church. Cash or checks can be put in envelopes in the pews – make out checks to St Mary’s and put “The Shoe that Grows” on the memo line. Please place your offering in the collection plate as it comes by. We’ll run this program until Sunday, December 31st, 2017. Thank you so much!
