ASL Meal Teams
Alternative Sleeping Location 20652 Laguna Canyon Rd Laguna Beach, CA
In partnership with the Orange County Food Bank, St. Mary's volunteer meal teams serve fresh, hot meals to ASL clients on the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Thursday of each month. Meal teams assist with preparing and serving meals to our ASL neighbors. Combining food donations from the Orange County Food Bank with fresh fruits and vegetables purchased with their own funds, meal teams provide a nutritious meal and a warm smile to the men and women of the ASL. St. Mary's, in partnership with Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) has pledged to help with Hurricane Harvey relief effort to the devastated residents in the storm's path. Thousands have lost everything in the storm, and rebuilding efforts can take years. Please take a moment read a message from Fr. Mack outlining our commitment to the affected residents of Texas.
Presiding Bishop Michael Curry's message encourages us to reach out to our brothers and sisters in the storm region, and offers alternative to donations of material goods.
Stay tuned to all of St. Mary's communication channels in the coming days and weeks to find out how you can help. Even the smallest donation can make a difference.
We are St. Mary's, and we are committed to helping our brothers and sisters in the wake of Harvey's unprecedented devastation. Won't you help?
St. Mary's Hygiene Supply Drive
To Our Community Friends:
St Mary’s is running a Hygiene Items Drive during the month of October for the survivors of recent natural disasters. Donations may be placed in the two cardboard boxes in the narthex/back of the church, and according to partners on the ground, the following items only are urgently needed at this time:-
Shampoo, Soap, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Diapers, and Deodorant
The need is great with so many people impacted by recent storms, so please consider giving as generously and as many times as you wish. At the end of the Drive, all items will be taken to Giving Children Hope who will distribute them immediately.
Thank You So Much! -Barbara Van Gaasbeek
2017 Advent Outreach Project
In many countries around the globe, contaminated water on river banks and contaminated soil provide breeding grounds for parasites which can easily enter the body through bare feet. Approximately 300 million children in the world suffer from the effects of parasites. Parents who live in impoverished countries cannot afford to buy new shoes annually for their children. Because International provides a simple solution – footwear that grows as a child’s feet grow.
So here is our chance to really give some hope for a better life by donating. Our goal is to give 100 pairs of shoes, which cost $15 per pair. For every $15 donated, we will put a card on the Christmas tree in the church. Cash or checks can be put in envelopes in the pews – make out checks to St Mary’s and put “The Shoe that Grows” on the memo line. Please place your offering in the collection plate as it comes by. We’ll run this program until Sunday, December 31st, 2017. Thank you so much!-Barbara Van Gaasbeek
