StMarysPracticeTithe_webNext Sunday, June 29, we will celebrate Practice the Tithe Sunday.  One year ago, this became a tradition for us.  Thru PRACTICE, PATIENT DESCERNMENT, and PRAYER.  We will walk this way together.

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church
June 2014

Dear Friends in Christ,

On Sunday, June 29th, St. Mary’s  will be celebrating Practice the Tithe Sunday. This offering asks parishioners to tithe 10% of one week’s gross income to our Church.  Please note that this donation is in addition to your regular pledge to our faith community.

This year we are facing the challenge of trying to pay off our debt, with these funds earmarked for our Capital Campaign.  This is one of the most important goals we have set for the coming year.  Paying off this debt would allow us to do so much for others in our community and our world.  We are walking in faith that we can use these funds for our Capital Campaign, but much depends on our regular pledges. Usually, we face our toughest months in summer, when many of our pledging members are on vacation.

This is a tremendous growth opportunity for all who participate.  It gives us a glimpse of what living into the joy of tithing can mean.  This may be difficult for some, and easy for others, but it can ground us all to not be afraid.

Envelopes marked “Practice the Tithe Sunday” will be available at the church on Sunday.  Won ‘t you consider using this envelope and giving to this worthy effort noting “Practice the Tithe Sunday” on the memo portion of your check?  If you cannot be in church on Practice the Tithe Sunday, you can mail the envelope you received in the mail to the Parish Office.

If you are not currently a pledging member, please prayerfully consider contributing to Practice the Tithe Sunday.  ln addition, would you also consider becoming a pledging member of St. Mary’s?   If you would like to receive a pledge card, please let us know.

The vestry and I thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
